The Bulle-1 tin said last night; The Bud Barnes murder trial Is scheduled to start in the' superior court again AVedni'Sday, commencing at 9 a. m when the work of picking the jury which Is to hear the evidence! will start. , . , , A venire of some 130 names has! been drawn and from this list the II men who will decide 1 Barnes' fate may be chosen. . The trial is expected to take up con siderable more time than did the other one, owing to the difficulty In getting a Jury, , The last trial resulted In a disagree ment, the Jury standing t to S In favor I of conviction on the charge of murder In the first degree. The plea of inr sanity interposed by Barnes' attorneys I caused the-disagreement. Edward Mills, E. F. Baker and Os car Cain will . defend Barnes, while Porsecutlng Attorney Rupp and Depu ties McDonald and Bryeon will handle I the state's case. . ! , McClellan Prove Master. In a program of widely varied and beautifully balanced numbers, J. j. McClellan, organist of the Mormon tabernacle, Salt Lake, gave at the First Methodist church last night a demon stration of how flexible an Instrument Is the pipe organ In the hands of a master. His concert Included every thing from the brllllnnt eoneert num bers of Bach and Guilmant to dainty lyrics like Mendelssohn's "Spring Song" and Callaert's "Intermezzo," and In all of them the artist was at his best. 1 The audience that heard him was not a largo' one, but It was quick to HhoW Its appreciation of Mr. MeClel- lan's work, forcing him after many so lections to respond to encores. It was generous in its appluuse of local mu sicians on the program, evincing a de sire to hear more of the V. M. C. A. male chorus, under whone auspices the concert was given, and which, ap peared in two songs in the first part of the program. The chorus made Its first public appearance last night, and left an excellent Impression, having evidently received much good train ing. There are a number of fine voic es In the club, and their harmonization Is well worked out. The playing of Mr. McClellan was the fcarure of the evening, however, the big Instrument In the 'church giv ing him a chance to justify his title to the greatest organist in America." Ho began with a concert overture by Faulkes, In which there were a num ber of orchestral effects. "Visions," by Hhelnbeiger, following. H sprang a surprise In tho next nu.-iiji.-i-. "Palm Sunday," giving to the r' fi ctom- rmnlment of soft chimes tout n-ilted beautifully the charming corn.. iMlon. In response to an encore he lopeated part of the number. "Andantlno," by Lemars, and a se lection from "Lohengrin" opened the iccond part, of the program, the Tannhausor" "Pilgrim's Chorus" be ing given an Impressive rendition from n arrangement by the player. In place of Saint Snens The Swan" Mr. McClellan concluded his second part with Oullmant's composition, "Toccata From Sixth Symphony," a number the dashing brilliance of which won hearty applause. Some of the best of the numbers were those In tho last portion of the concert, excerpts from 'Mlgnon, an other of tho Gullmunt companions, and the "Evening Star" song from Tannhauser," being followed by the 'Oberon Overture." Mr. McClellnn's playing was a reve lation to many who were not familiar with the vast range of musical possi bilities In the pipe organ music. Under his hands the one Instrument became whole orchestra, to be controlled by the one man and strengthened or sub dued at his will. Alt profits of the concert go toward the purchase of the grand piano now In the lobby of the T. M. C. A. building. Spokesman-1 Review.
