One day this week there was at Aus
tin, Ore., a very unique freak of na
ture Jt was' a lamb that had been sent
to the taxidermist at Bolne. , It "was
now mounted. It had two and a half
bodies, all joined at the head; there
was .one head, eight h'gs, two tails,
three eyes and four ears.
The two bodies' were standing at
almost right angles to each other,
each one having two hind legs and
a foreleg; being Joined at the neck,
there was the need of but the one fore
leg to each body. , The half body was
between the other two and fastened
with them to the neck. , There 'were
the two eyes In the normal position,
and a third eye at the back ot the
head, and this was flanked by two
perfectly formed ears. What Is won
derful (If anything could be deemed
queer about a thing that had so little
regularity about- It) Is that the, two
legs ' supporting the half body were
placed as if they were to walk back
word. .
The most unnatural feature was
the face. It looked almost exactly like
the face of a very old man; the prom
inent nose, a mouth toothless,' and
the protruding chin all very human-
covering of vool. Such a monstrosity
should be In the Smithsonian Institute.

Cow Killed. ' s
The excursion train over the Cen
tral to Cove Friday night of last week
bumped a cow off the track near the
Wright ranch, derailing the tender
and forcing the train to return to
Union. There were about 70 ddodIo
on the train at the time, though no
damage was done except to the cow,
which was killed. The animal was the
property of Fred Nodlne. Union. Re
publican. Proportion Dropped.
The plan to submit to the voters of
the city of Union a proposition to so
amend the city charter as to permit
the Issuance of bonds for the con
struction of an electric lighting plant
has been dropped for the present,
owing to the fact that sufficient data
could not be secured In time to present
to the people at the June election.
