Mrs. Frank Parsons and family of Tleton Basin, arrived this morning and went to Imbler to Join Mr. Parsons, who preceded them several weeks. Little Dean Smith has been confined to his home for several days with la grip. E. Winston, who has been looking after business In La Grande, returned to his home In Joseph this morning. W. Stewart of Portland, is In this city, looking after the Interests of A. N. Hamilton, Independent candidate for railroad commissioner. Miss Marie Edwards of Nyesa, pass ed through La Grande this morning on her way to Wallowa, where she will visit iMatlvet for a while. The incessant ringing of the fire bell this afternoon was not an alarm of fire, but the result of the efforts of an expert who is trying to put the mechanism In better working order. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Ha worth, are both ill and unable to leave their home. La grippe has seized them both simultaneously, District Attorney F. S. Ivanho. is home from Wallowa county, where he attended the Wallowa term of the circuit court Mr. and Mrs. William Dopp left to day for Portland and other points in western Oregon. Fred Toung, a member of the '09 high school class, met with an acci dent Sunday which has held him with in doors until this afternoon. He hopes to be able to attend the gradu ation exercises this evening at the Steward.' He fell from a tree while attending a class picnic. Mr. and Mrs. M. Boyer left this morning for their home In Colfax, Wash. Mrs. Boyer, formerly, Miss Lyte, has been employed as trimmer In the N. K. West store, millinery de partment Mrs. George L. Scott left today for Spokane, to Join her husband, who Is employed In the Haxlewood cream ery at that place. Mr. Scott was at one time employed In the local cream ery. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Gardner, who were married at Enterprise last Sat urday, arrived la La Grand yester day evening and took their departure this morning for Walla Walla, where they will make their future home, Mr. Gardner Is telegraph editor of the Morning Union.
