La Grande took the first one here yesterday In a ping pong game that re sulted In a score of 19 to 4. The La Orande stickers knocked the covering off the sphere so often that It soon got monotonous,! From the first twister that the Baker twlrler sent over, It was easy plcktn's for the vis itors and when the score assumed such proportions that there was simply nothing to It, the swatting fest eased up a bit, much to the Joy of the dis heartened Baker City bugs and fans. The Bcorekeeper needed some schooling on the side. . The only thing which he recorded correctly was the error column for La Grande, which shows consecutive seros. ' For Baker City he lost his breath and didn't keep up with the error procession. The tally man says La Grande got 12 hits and Baker City 11, but this Is an error on the scorer. In contrast to, yesterday's cold and distagreeable weather, this morning broke warm and balmy and a large crowd will be In attendance this after noon, eliminating sudden changes for the worse In the condition of the ele ments. Kotteman did some clever work In the box yesterday and was utterly un solveable. Fuchel goes In the box for La Grande today, while Kesslln Is marked up for Baker City. I'll rade of Madmen. Guthrie, Okla., May 22. Several humh-ed buggies, carriages and other vehicles were used to tranHport the Insulin patients from the railroad sta tion at Fargo to the new state asylum a Fort Supply, 10 miles distant, form ing one of the most novel processions ever seen In Oklahoma. The wor.k of transferring the patients from the pri vate sanitarium at Norman to Fort Supply will not be completed until July. The former government mill tary post which will hereafter be used as a home for. the Inwune Is 10 miles from a railroad, and all patients will have to be transported overland. Union Hero Next Week. The Union high ' school baseball team Is scheduled to play the local high .school In this city next Saturday afternoon. This will close the base ball season as far as the high school is concerned. Ton m to Cove. In charge of Coach Mickleson, the La Grande baseball team went to Cove this morning, where they play this afternoon. AVatch for the score on the Observer's score board.
