to have a band Is to give it the sup

of Its bund, but, on the other hand,
has every reason to point to lt with
pride. No one denies this fact. This

press our appreciation of our band In
a substantial manner and at the same
time secure full value for our money,
but we failed to take advantage of the
opportunity and thereby lost ,the
pleasure of the consciousness of hav
ing performed our duty and of hav
ing rendered assistance to a worthy
objettf. We also failed to avail our
selves of the opportunity to witness an
exhibition which was well worth, i.o
small price asked. In fact, we lost a
double opportunity, one of rendering
the band the support It deserved, and
the opportunity offered to meet half
way the "Patronize Home Industry"
spirit which the friends of the band

La Grande and Elgin again have
double train service. We truly hope
that the double service will be main
tained. Once before this service was
given, but for some reason It was dls
continued. The traffic la certainly
sufficient to warrant the extra train.

A little youngster who had played
"hookey" from school recently and

siderable excitement this morning by
a clever ruse which for a time had
every color of stern reality. The facts

school and was In a tangle to clear
himself. In the end ho was slightly
punished. This morning, while pass

doctors and his mother were hurrying

each year, convenes next Monday
morning. In all there are 14 cases
on the docket, from Baker, Malheur,
Union, Umatilla, Grant and Wallowa
counties. From Union county there
are two cases aa follows:

the district and supreme courts for
