So a Una. As an evidence of what a live cor- respondent, backed by a wide-awake and liberal paper ran do for a town we cite our readers to Saturday's Telegram. On page tour, appears a -three-column half-tone of the Mar ket day parade, and a 100-word write. up of the event The value of this sort of publicity cannot be expressed In figures, but St is safe to say that La Grande will reap direct benefits from this one mention' In Portland's great afternoon dally. La Grande is making a noise which will cause en ' tire Union county to be heard of more often In the future than In the past. La Orande certainly appreciates any publicity which the press of the state may accord it or any section of the county. i If It requires the whole of the $6. 000 subscribed for the Commercial club to secure one enterprise creating an additional payroll for La Orande, the Investment will be a good one. La Orande needs payrolls more than It does anything else. The dinner buck et brigade makes the town. No town can ever hope to become a city with out payrolls. m.LYi.i; Giu.t ill..
