Boston, April 10. With Postmaster Ot-neral George von L. Meyer presid ing an chairman, the Vassachusetts republican stole convention was called to order In Tremont temple at 10:30 o'clock this mofrirg. After the trans action of p-eUmlnsry business, the convention E'JJottrned until htls after noon, when four delegates at large to the national convention win be elect ed. ..Lodge,' Crane and rates' ure al most sure of places among the "big four," but a lively fight Is expected In the selection of the fourth delegate. The rholce for the latter lies between former Secretary of the Navy John"D. j Long and Colonel Sydney O. Begney, i the Taft candidate. Congressional district conventions will be held next week In many M&s Saehui'ets districts. In nearly all dis tricts the principal Issue between the candidates for delegates Is the support of Taft. Adherents of the war -secretary believe that they will secure at least 18 of the 32 delegates from this state. This is denied by the antl Taft men, who say that not more than nine or 10 delegates from this state will vote for Taft. .
