COLLItR WED TODAY Mrs. John Collier died at the family home on Park street this afternoon a 2:30, after a week of Illness occaslone by heart disease. Her,dealh came as a shock. Dur Ing the last few days her condition has been critical and last night It was ev ident that her recovery was not likely, She Is survived by her husband John Collier, part owner of the Peo pies store, and a 11-year-old daugh ter, Amelia. Mary Ella Nash was born April 27 1867, thus reaching an age of almost 42 vears at the time of death. Her father and. mother both survive her and live at Allegan, Mich. About six years ago Mr. and Mr Collier came to La Grande from Wy. omlng and for several years Mr. Col Her was connected with the Golden Rule store, retiring last year from that firm to take up the management of the Peoples store. Mrs. Collier has a very large circle of friends. " By reason 'of her ardent and Christian life and conscientious work In the Episcopal church, she won the friendship and admiration of her co-workers in the church. The Neigh borhood club loses one of Its most honored and hard-working members. Any commendable task undertaken by that club' would always enlist the services of the deceased. Since being arested, Mr. Burns' brother-in-law at Wallowa has placed the required , amount in the bank and the defendant has been released. RELEASED Frank Burns was released today af ter having been arrested In Pendleton two days ago, and brought to La Grande last night by Sheriff Childers on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. .Mr. Burns laBt Tuesday had Joe Woods of this city endorse a check on a Wallowa bank, and the La Grande National cashed It. When presented for exchange It was found that there was no account with that name In the Wallowa bank. The arrest followed jn a warrant sworn out by the bank All a Mistake. As was proven today, the entire In cident was a mistake. When Mr, Burns presented the check, he was under the Impression that his brother In-law at Wallowa would place that amount In the bank there.
