Mr. Hopper,, however, has been at the bedside for jsome time, and ls now In Pendleton, where he' will remain until after the funeral. Mrs. Hopper Is 1)1 and cannot attend. ' The Pendle ton East Oregonlan speaks of the pio neer, thus: Mrs. Sabre Hopper, Umatilla coun ty pioneer woman, and grandmother of a host of people in this city, died at her home In Nolln at o'cloqk this morning from the effects of Ill ness brought on by old age. Up to this time the exact time for her fune ral has not been set, but Jit Is under stood that the burial will occur here tomorrow afternoon or on Thursday forenoon. Mrs. Hopper was a native of Ten nessee and waa bora on December 80, 1815. Bhe was therefore more than . years of age at the time of her uettiii. tier iiummuu, Deujuiuiu auu- per, has been dead for over 15 years. With her husband, Mrs. Hopper crossed the plains with an ox team in '65, and the family settled at Nolln, where they have lived permanently ever since and where Mr. Hopper died. Four sons and two daughters of the deceased are now alive and mourn her end. They are Nowell Hopper, Joshua Hopper, Bura Hopper, Thomas Hopper, Mrs. Jerry Barnhart and Mrs. M. A. Terry. ' Anlde from the sons and daughters the pioneer woman Is survived by 87 grandchildren and a number .' of nieces and nephews. Among the granddaughters are Mrs. T. B. Swear Ingen and Mrs. William Baker, Tracy Baker, the high school student, Is a great-grandson. During her long residence here the deceased became well known to all old residents of the county and especially to those who came to the county In the very early days. N. has announced special rates to Baker City from all points on the O. R. N. and the O. 8. L.
