Whitney of Port land, the extra operator for the Pen dleton office, will begin work under the new federal law. His shift will begin at ( p. m. and end at 10 p. m. and is known to railroad men as the split trick," says the Pendleton East Oregonlan. Alfred Noth Is the regular night operator and ticket clerk and will work from 10 p. m. until 8 a. m., and R. L. Jackson, day operator, holds what is known to railroad men as "the gentleman's lob," from 8 a. m. until 6 p. m. It is now estimated that 20 extra operators will be employed on the mountain division of the O. R. & N between Umatilla and Huntington One extra operator will' be employed at each of the following places: Uma till a, Echo, Pendleton, Bingham Springs, Duncan, Huron, Meacham Kamela, Hilgard.
