Republicans Completed Organization
of Club at Haines.

publican gathering at Haines and the
organization of the Garfield club,
which was begun some time ago, was
completed, says the Herald of Baker
City. It was sort of a Washington
celebration held In the Granite hall
at Haines with Manager O'Brien as
host. The program consisted of music
and speeches. C. J. Osborne sang two
popular selections and Henry McKln
ney boosted the Oregon university and
the appropriation bill. After some
time had been thus consumed the
republicans withdrew to the Odd Fel
lows' hall and completed organization
of the Garfield club.
C. J. Osborne was elected president,
P. 11, Durgan, vice-president; W D.
Nelson, secretary, and G. W. Van.
wald, treasurer. Speeches were deliv
ered by Mr. Oosborne, Jlr, McKlnney,
air. vanderwald and a hlimber ot
others, the prlncpal theme being the
necessity of choosing good men for
candidates at the primaries and then
unite a strong effort for the whole
ticket At the polls.
It was decided that the Garfield
?lub should hold a grand rally on
March 7th, at which time the Lincoln
club of Baker City will be invited to
be present.

March 5, 1908, sealed bids for fur
nishing said school district No. I with
150 cords of four-foot split, yellow
pine and red fir wood, suld wood to
lie cut while green and nut later than
June 1st, 1908, free from large knot
and acceptable to said school boa-d
Said wood to be delivered, 135 cords
at high school building, five cords at
White school, and 10 cords at Fourth
ward school, and to be corded up
neatly and closely where directed by
board. Fifty cords to be delivered by
July 1st, and all on or before August
15, 1908. rids to be left with school
clerk. Board reserves the right to re
ject any or all bldx.

property belonging to said estate and
that there Is no cash on hand to de
fray the expense for the support and

da; Alfred Given, Sookane, Washing
ton, and S. L. Given. La Grande, Ore,

that It Is necessary to sell said above
described real property, and that it
would be beneficial to said estate to
sell the same,
It Is by the said court ordered that
the above numed heirs at law and
next of kin of said Maggie Given, true

sons Interested In said estate appear
at the office of the undersigned at
the court house In the city of La
Grande, Union county, Oregon, on
