Those who have been foread tn tabu
the Wallowa stage from Elgin to points
in waiiowa county during the past two
weeks, have experienced a trio so full of
excitment and lightening changes that
tney will remember the voyage with a
thrilling sensation. The staces. when
mounted on wheels, carry runners, and
visa versa. For several miles out of
Elgin, wheels would revolve verv

scarcely aare of the change, the lum

points in the county, the wheels would

Mrs. J. F. Steinbeck, who haft hpAn
suffering for the past eighteen months
from a complication of ailments, was
operated upon yesterday morning at ten
thirty by Dr. Moormeister with the assist
ance of Dr. Volp, in the Union hospital of
ims city. The operation was of a serious
nature and successful. We learned this
morning that Mrs. Steinbeck rested well
last nigra.
