Yesterday afternoon the constable and the thrashing machine man bad occasion to participate in a friendly chat during stroll towards the Justice of the Peace office. That all looked suspicious to pass ers by 'but after they had returned from Justice Hough's office; and Mr. Good had begun an earnest appeal for bondsmen, then it was that hit friends grew bold and approached him with "Why what's the matter Al, you certainly are not under ar rest?" "Yet, I am", sorrowfully replied Mr. Good to such inquiries, "and I want seventeen dollars to liquidate my bonds." Al hat an eye for a good joke and nudg ing the constable, he continued hit search for bondsmen. Mr. Faulk had fallen in with the fun, and to inquiries at to the reason for Mr. Good' arrest he replied that Mr. Good had ' thrashed" two of our respected citizens and mutt suffer the consequences. One of our leading busi ness men came to the rescue and in re sponse to Al's earnest appeal, he offered to go the bonds, stating "E'n tho it takes half my kingdom." Even Recorder Snook was a victim, and .expressed hit tympa nies to Mr. Good with the admonition that justice must be) enforced, and the way of the transgressor it hard.
