Mr E M Dennison is our new barber. His office hours are from 7. to 9pm each evening as he works during the day. The Hilgard hotel is full and running over. This speaks well for Mr Porter, the present proprietor. Miss Vie Hart is visiting friends at Pendleton. Here sister Helen returned to school this week at Portland. There will be a basket social given in( the near future, by the Hilgard schools for the purpose of securing funds to purchase a library case and a flag. The program will consist of songs, recitations, dialogues and a flag drill. At a meeting of the school board Sat urday it was decided to maintain two departments thruout the year. The board did their duty. Miss Park was hired for four more months at a salary of Sj60 per month. As she has heer. receiving only $50 per month for tne past term, because of her success as a primary worker, she was allowed $10 per month back pay. This speaks well for M.ss Park. Valb. H. A.
