At the present time there are but twelve counties in the tata having seperate recorders, these counties are: Benton, Clackamas, Doug las, Jackson, Linn, Malheur, Yamhill, Marlon, Sherman, Umatilla and Union. The last session of the legislature abol ished ' the office of recorder in Baker county. Hon. Frank C. Baker, who died in Portland recently, left an estate valued at $260,000.
