IE With a large crowd of enthusiastic rooters at their heels,, the La Grande Hifch school football team left this morn ing for Elgin where it this afternoon mat the Elgin team. The boys have played but on game this year, and at the last moment it was announced that sickness keeps Bay, the veteran halfback out of the game. At the last moment this morning. Oliver telephoned the management that he could . nr. nH the team only had one substitute, the entire squad was in the j line up. with no substitutes on the side lines. On a sea of mud, several inches in dept. the La Grande team and Elgin fought a scoreless game. For the La Grande team Olstott and Merrill Childers, half backs, played the best game, altho all played hard and furious. The mud made running an impossibilly. Elgin made their gains on lucky forward passes. The Elgin bacVs would throw the ball ahead to an advanctd end and make yaroage reoeatedly. Neither team was able to score. Hub has distingu'uhed himself as a foot ball player several times during the past few years but his work in the Oregon Multnomah came Thanksgiving day shines out above all past records.
