This means that even the last heavy frost
did not entirely damage the unpulled
beets. It has been estimated that there
are one thousand tons of beets still in the
ground and the loss wasthot to be heavy.
However, it is encouraging to know that
with a little more pleasant weather, there
will be a general clean up of beets. '

Harbors convention which is in session
here today chose Joseph Ransdell as
president. The convention has today
adopted a resolution asking congress for
fifty millions to improve the waterways
of the nation. Many of the delegates
personally visited the President and were
