Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Never trouble afiul'ioi l"i w'uai you can do yourself.
Never spend you money before you have it.
Never buy what you do not want because it is cheap; it will be dear to you.
Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold. ,
We never repent of having eaten too little.
Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.
How much pain have cost us the evils that have never happened!
Take things always by the smooth handle.
When angry, count ten before you speak; if very angry, a hundred.

Last year wood to the value of nearly
$18,000,000 was used in the manufact
ure of wood pulp, an industry wh'ch has
developed rapidly in recent years. This
is brought out in a circular just issued by
the forest service of the department o
agriculture, which shows that within the
space of five years there has been an in
crease of 53 '' in the amount of wood
used for this purpose. Spruce is the wood
most utilized, but heavy drafts are also
made upon such timber as hemlock, pine,
balsam, poruiarand Cottonwood. Mean
j while. American requirements also draw
i hi'avily upon Canadian forests, imports
increasing 75 in the last six years.
Fortunate! y. the utilization of slabs for
