Beatrice McClure is the young woman't

Seattle's society buds, Mr. Cort believes
she will prove as interesting to theatre
goers as she is attractive in appearance.
Beyond the amateur performances which
form an adjunct of Seattle's social enter
tainments. Miss McClure has had little
theatrical experience. She has been en
trusted with a part of considerable im
portance in the comedy in which Max
Figman will star this season. Miss Mc
Clure is the daughter of a well known
Seattle newspaper publisher end editor.
Miss Roberts will be seen at Stewards
opera house early in January.

wet weather early in October, followed
by a severe freeze on October the 10th
a very large part of the dark tobacco
crop, both in Kentucky and Tennessee,
which was uncut on that date, is now re
ported as an almost total loss. Agricult
ural Commissioner Vreeland estimates
the damage on burly from various causes
at 24 per cent, while the yield this year
only amounts to 66 per cent when com
pared with other yeart. In the dark dis
tricts reports indicate that the crop is
damaged 30 per cent and the yield 78
per cent.

road and also that he it negotiating, for
the purchase of considerable properties in
