Best Offer TO THE PUBLIC One of the most sensational gambling cases that has come to light hare in many months became known today when war rants were sworn out for the arrest of Roy Stewert and Sam Endicott. The "former has been arrested and pleaded guilty, and was fined $75 today) by Judge Fitz Gerald. Up to three o'clock this afternoon Endicott had not been located by the chief of police. G. W. Biggers of La Gande, is the complainant against the two men and according to his allegations he was rob bed of $400 by the two men, and was in line co loose $1000 more. According to Biggers he sat in a game of poker at the Rainier beer hall, of which oMirt is tr.a prepnetcr. Tr.s etr.srs v. the game wet e Stewart, Endicott and a stranger whose name Biggers did no know. Biggers alleges that in the first game the trio won $400 from him. But he still had a certificate of $1 000 and they then induced him to try his luck again in hopes of redeeming his losses. While the game was on he declares an extra card was slipped into his hand by one of the other players who then ac cused Biggers of cheating. The gambler then picked up all the money in the pot, taking also the $1000 certificate of deposit The certificate of deposit was from a La Grande bank and since the game, pay ment has been stopped by Biggers, so he sa ys. The cases against Endicott and Stewart were taken up in the recorder's court by District Attorney Phelps. Should Big ger's story be found sustained it is prob able both men will be indicted in the circuitcourt for larceny of the $1000 certificate of deposit. Pendleton E. O.
