HAINES BOY IS SHOT
John Clark of Haines, a 1 6 year old
boy, was shot and received a serious flesh
wound Sunday afternoon by the accident
al discharge of a gun. The lad was
operatedupon today by Dr. May at
Radium Springs, and is getting along
nicely. The wound is not a dangerous
one but is rather serious.
Young Clark with some other boys, was
driving in a buggy in the bottom of which
was a short barreled shot gun. In some
way due to the jolting of the rig, the gun
was accidentally discharged. Th. charge
of shot entered Jyoung Clark's leg be
tween hip and knee badly tearing the
flesh. Baker City Herald.
PROSPEROUS WALLOWA
F. D. McCully of Joseph passed thru
the city Saturday night enroute to Port
land. Mr. McCully has been one of
Wallowa county's most active citizens for
a number of years and states that the
county was never as prosperous as at the
present time. In speaking of the change
with reference to the county going dry he
stated that it would never go wet again,
hat many who voted against it were so
we I pleased with the results that they
would advocate a dry county in the future.
Mr. McCully is of the opinion that the
next wool crop will go out of the county
on the cars.
