As a fore runner of this movement, Mrs. Clara Hemason Waldo is working in this county this week. Mrs. Waldo it the wife of ex- Supreme Judge J. B. Waldo of Waldo Hills Oregon, and her ability as a lecturer has reached such a high degree of eff iciency that her presence in any com munity is highly desirable, Dunne her week's work in Union county she will be extremely busy Saturday afternoon she addressed a large audience in Cirange Hall. The next day she addressed a meeting at North Powder and instigated a movement there, that will soon estab lish i grange. Messers F. A. McAllister nd Howard Campbell of tnat locality have the matter in hand and will be assisted in the complete organization by State Organizer Joseph Voorhees who will arrive in Union county within a few days. Alice! has a strong grange and her advent there is being awaited with much interest- Organizer Voorhees will follow Mrs. Waldo thru the county and at least three new granges will be established. Besides ably filling the position as state lecturer for the Grange Mrs. Waldo is editor of the State Grange Bulletin, a paper published at Forest Grove which deals with tubject of interest to farmers. She was last year elected to the board of regents of the O. A. C. AT FRU1TDALE TONIGHT Tonight at seven thirty, Mrs Waldo will give another of her interesting ad dresses in the hall at Fruitdale. Tomorrow at two p. m. she lectures at Imbler, where there is already a Grange Hall the same day at seven thirty Sum merville will hear her. Echo and Cove respectfully will be visited by her on the following days and Saturday, Alice) Grange Hall will be her lecturing place. WHAT THE GRANGE IS DOING Mrs. Waldo this morning, in a private interview, outlined a few of the causes that the Grange of Oregon is working for and needless to say they are ideals every farmer shouid assist in perfecting. "We are trying to establish business in Oregon," Mrs. Waldo related "We have a greater purpose. What we are trying to do primarily is to more highly educate the framer in a literary and social way, to bring about fewer laws but more en forcement of the laws that de exist, and do negotiate a movement whereby farm ing wi l be conducted in a scientific way. To perfect the latter cause we are desirous of havirg every father's son secure a practical education in an agricultural college. We want more even taxations, we want cot porations to pay a just tax. Every farm house 6hould be supplied with the better literature. Home invironments also come in for betterment." Parcel posts are encouraged by this organization. A better rural mail deliv ery service for Oregon is another topic which is being agitated by the Grange.
