OBITUARl Martha J. Gilham. the deceaftud wif of William Jasper Stanley, was born i nderson county Missouri. Julu 99 I a J.A One year later the Qilham family with an ox team and crossed the plains, endur ing all the hardships that such a journey implied. Arriving at Dallas, the family settled down and lived there several years. On July 29. i860. Miss Gilham was united in marriase to Junar Stanley. Immediately after the waddimi Dm couple went to the Dalles and remained there until 1884 at which time they re turned to Dallas, living there two years. Umatilla Munty was their home from that date until 1894. when Mr. and Mrs. Stanley came into the Grande Ronde valley and have since resided here, honor. ed and respected citizens. About three weeks auo Mrs. Stanlav was taken ill with tvohoid. which her death Sunday morning at 7;45. The funeral was held vesta-daw tn m the family residence with J. D. Oillilan officiating. A husband, eight children, seven hrnih.r. and sisters survive her: The children are: William. DaviH n,t Bert of La Grande. Ralph of Wastanche Washington. Sarah Bennetof Union. Mr. George Seigler of Imbler. Mrs. Roll Walker and Mrs. Stacy of La Grande. Brothers and sisters who survive her are: Jessie J. Gilham. N. B. Gilham J A. Gilham all of Garfield Washington n C.
