The period of tramps is at hand. The
approach of cold weather in the east, the
completion of the harvest in the Dakotas
snd Minnesota, combine to drive the mid
dlewest hobo to the coast. Consequently
the Pacific coast will be flooded with

WALK CONSTRUCTION
Notice is hereby given that at a meeting
of the council of the city of La Grande.
Oregon, held on Oct. 3. 1 906, a resolution
was passed providing for a 7 foot side
walk along and upon the east side of
Jackson avenue from its intersection with
North 4th street to its intersection with
North Depot street, that unless said side
walk improvement is defeated by a re
monstrance signed by at least two thirds
of the abutting property owners and filed
with the city Recorder within 1 0 days
of this notice, the said side-walk will be
ordered constructed by the council of said
city.
