The little daughter of Mr. and Mr. Wm. Holbrook who reside on Monro Street In this city, died euddenly on Monday afternoon Sept. 1 7th at 8 o'clock. The little one death came in an unusual way. While playing about the horn th got hold of a imall bottle of pink pill which were given by a physician in Oklahoma a few days ago as the family departed for Oregon. The pills had !ad been used and had proved very effective as a mlid purgation. But the baby getting the bottle in hand sat down and ate a quantity of them. When the mother discovered her ' th said, "Daughter, What are you doing?" "Mamma, I'm eating pills." ' No serious fear were entertained un til the baby went into convulsions, though later physicians were called but reached the little sufferer to late. She was dead as the Doctor came. The little unfortunate was born in Tecumseh Oklahoma. November 17. 1903 and came with the family to La Grande one week ago. Thus among strangers the sad affliction came. But Mr. and Mr. Holbrook register a profound appreciation for the sincere sympathy and kindness of neighbors and friend. Th remains were interred at trie Cad Feiiowe Ceme tery after the funeral from th horn Conducted by Pastor W. H. Gibson of th Baptist church.
