Huben spent Tuesday in La Grand Mr. Roy Alluad returned home Tuesday from La Qrand where be has been spend ing the past few days. Mrs. Minnie Wright and family left Tues. for Moscow, Idaho, where they will make their future home. Mr. Wright has long been a resident of this place and ber many f neods were sorry to see ber leave. Mrs. Rogers transacted business in La Grande Tues. Mr. S. E. Combes of Enterprise spent a few days in this city returning home the first of the the weeks accompanied by his mother Mrs. H. C Barnes and her two grand children. James and Blanche Combes. Mr. Harry Judd of Perry spent Sunday in this city. Miss Rosa Hug left Tuesday for La Grande where she will spend a few days with her sister Mrs. Scott. Mr. McMasters of La Grande is a caller in our town today. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey of Baker City passed through here Tuesday. Pete G roes beck and family move to Alicel this week. Mr. and Mrs. Moms of Island City spent Sunday in this city as the guest of his brother Mr. Morris. Mr. and Mr. S. Byers of Cel. former residents of this city, returned last week, they expect to make this their future home. The real estate business transacted in our litt'e berg this last week was the the following: B. Hubers purchased the resident of Wm. Inrin and H. C Rinehart the resident of Justice Wade. Mrs. J.' A. Murchison made a business trip to La Grand Tuesday. Editor Eckley of the La Grande Chron icle was a caller in our town Saturday H. McKinnis and family have moved into this city. The Summerville Public School started Monday Sept. 10. There was not a large attendance but we all look for more later on. It is conducted this year by Prof, and Mrs. Springer. Mrs. Jones who spent the summer with her daughter Mrs. Thortoa started to her horr in Mexico, Sunday. There will be church services in the Presbyterian Church Sunday. Come everybody. Stall a prominent valley fanner was in the city today and says that bis crop this year is a little short and he finds that the same condition prevails on all the ranches of the county. The crops are of good quality but not up to the iverage. But this condition prevails throughout the Inland Empire wheat belt i there is heavy shortage in Umatilla county and Washington. Baker City Herald. ALMOST COMPUTED The immense fuel oil tank being built at Arlington by the O. R. & N. is nearly completed. When it is finished the "local' passengers now run between Portland and Biggs will be run to Arlington. WDI EXHIBIT The La Grande sugar factory will have on exhibit at the Umatilla county fair an exhibit of sugar beets, and the sugar in its various processes of manufacture. Sealed bids will also be received on or before the above mentioned date for the construction of a steel bridge over the Grande Ronde River near the mill site of the Palmer Lumber Company near La Grande. Oregon. Said bridge to be a 100 foot span. 16 feet in width, w th first class concrete abutemenu. a good quality of steel and shall be built 10 feet above the bed cf the river. Each bidder is required to furnish his own plans and specifications for said bridge. The County Court of Union County, Oregon, reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
