RAIN, WIND Al L1GHTRING CAUSE TROUBLE
FRElOtlT TRAIN " AT NORTHFORK TWO
TIT CARS ARE BURIED
BENEATH DIRT AND ROCKS

Due to the heavy rain fall yesterdayTa
freight train of the 0. R. & N. is complete
ly covered up near Northforlc. Yester
day afternoon about four o'clock, a west
bound freight was passing along the base
of a high hill just beyond Northfork,
when the engineer's attention was at-
traded by a rumbling sound. Upon look
ing back he was dumbfounded to see a
avalanch tumbling down on his train.
HIT CENTER OF , TRAT
' In an instant the small hill of dirt and
rocks was on the train. Another minute
and the freight would have been past, but
fate had not so decreed. The terrible on
slauget carried eight cars off the track
and tumbled them into the ditch like so
many toy wagons.
COMPLETELY COVERED
The engine was promptly brought to a
standstill and the roll of the crew taken.
No one was hurt. When the last of the
slide had reached the bottom, eight cars
wjsovered. Corners of the car and oc
carinally a brakawheal projected above
the heap but otherwise it was possible to
walk along the heap and step on the top

ONE CASUALTY FEARED
It was rumored that a tramp was steal-
g his ride on the train and after a care-
ul investigation it was found that if he
ad been, he was in one of the covered
cars. Up to a late hour tnis atternoon tne
report had not been verified.
TRAFFIC BLOCKED
Passenger train number two, which was
due shortly, was flagged and the passen
gers forced to a long-wait. The wrecker
which was sent from this city did not se
cure a passage to let number two through
this morning, and all other trains were
necessarily delayed. Number one this
morning went to Northfork to transfer
mail and passengers. It will return this
evening.
The accident is another of fate's pecu
liar freaks. The train, which was not a
long one, was running at the ordinary rate
of speed, and it can be plainly seen that a
fraction of a n-.inute either sooner or later
would have meant the loss of several
lives. The accident happened so quickly
that the crew would have been killed out-

! OUR IDEA OF
I TRADE - BUILDING
We belieave that people wish to trade where they can
do best, and that to get their trade it is necessary to do
best by them. This is the principle that we have tried
to apply, and it has proven effective.
We are sure that our business will keep on growing. It
will grow because all those features that lreve brought
trade are still in operation. We want your trade, and
we ask for it solely on the basis of our intention and
ability to do you good, and we ask you to come here
whenever you need anything that a druggist ought to
sell, and feel sure that if you come once you will con
tenue to come.
