Duluth, Mini., August 1 1. The steam
er Troy, a freighter, collideJ with a span
of the inter-state bridge today and pre
cipitated it into the channel of either side
of the center pier.
Navigation to and from the upper har
bor, .which is the most active portion of
the head of the lakes, is blocked and it is
impossible for even a tug to past. The
traffic between Duluth and Superior is
cut off. The Great Northern owns the
bridge which is the longest draw span
bridge in the world. Forty steamers in
the upper harbor have been cut off from
the lake.

A little study of the above figures would
lead one to believe the greater the leed

farms of thin land that require all kinds
of coaxing to induce it to produce crops,

tion, certainly needs and is well able to
appropriate a much greater turn for this

difference looks too great.

CAR REPORTED ROBBED
It is reported that an O. R. &. N.
freight car was robbed between this place
and Meacham at an early hour
yesterday. It was one of the box cars
attached to an east bound freight, and
some hobboes who were put off at
Meacham are suspicioned. It is not known
what was stolen, the account given by
the railway men being very meagre.
