The crop Reporting Board of the Bureau
of Statistics of the Department of Ag
r.culture finds, from th report of the
correspondent and agents of the Bureau
are as follows:
Preliminary returns show that acreage
of corn planted to be about 96.6 $5,000
acres an increase of about 1,624.000
acres cr 1 6 per cent as compared with
the estimare of the acerage planted last
year.
The average condition of the growing
crop on July I. wes 57.6 as compared
with 87.3 on July I. 190S.
Tne amount of wheat remaining in the
hands of farmers on July I is estimated
about 46,063.000 bushel equivalent to
about 6.6 per cent of the crop last year.
The acreage of potatoes excluding sweet
potatoes is less than that of last year
by about last year 38,000 acres or 1.3
par cint. The average condition oti July
1 was 9I.S as compared with 91.1 on
July I I9J5. 93.9 at the corresponding
da e in I9J4 and J. ten year average of
92.1.
The acerage of tobacco is less thin
that of last year by about 40,000 acres
or 6.2 per cant.
The average condition on July I was
86.7 against 84.7 one year ago. Govern

of the city of La Grande at his office on

lengths of four feet, and delivered to the
city pumping plant not latter than Nov. I,
1 906 properly corded Said wood to be
first class marketable wood. The city of
La Grande reserves the right to reject
