Sitler, the former steward of the County
Poorhouse, who was sentenced to four
months imprisoment for grafting, will be
released this noon, after having served

Ledoux for the murder of A. N. Mo
Vicars, which was sat for this morning
was continued untill this time tomorrow
morning.
On defendants motion for new trial, the
defense intr duced an affidavit to the

today denying that he ever discussed tne
case during the trial. The defense was
given on day to get an affidavit in rebut
tal. It is expected that the motion for a
new trial will be denied.
HERMAN AND Y ANGER TO FIGHT

Terre Haute, lnd.. Aug. 3. The two
Chicago light-weight boxers, Herman and
Yanger. have been matched to fight a
ten-round battle before the Terr Haute
Club tonight According to the conditions
of the fight the contestants are to weigh
133 pounds each at the ringside. The
fight is for the honors and a liberal per
centage of the gat receipts. Both are
said to be in fine trim for a spirited battle
and many sportsmen from all parts of the
state are here to witness the fight.
MILAN PALACE Of ART DESTROYED

Milan August 5 The palace of
decorative art at the Milan exposition was
destroyed by fir this morning. Many
were injured and the loss will reach five

SAILORS DRIVE OFFICERS AWAY

when a student disguised as sailor
boarded the ship and its officers ordered
his arrest. Other sailors prevented
shooting and ths four orlUsrs escaped in
a small boat which the men sank by
shooting it full of holes. The officers
swam to shore. The mutineers ordered
the crew of a torpedo boat to join but its
drew refused and steamed away.
DIED FROM WOUNDS
St. Petersbuig. Aug. 3 Rear Admiral
Beclamscheff, whowaa wounded at Kron
dstadt by the mutineers, died from the
injuries today. Baclamsoheft walked in
to the barracks ordering the mutineers to
disperse. Within a few seconds he and
his two aids were shot down.

Montgomory. Ala., August 5' Robert
L. Due, a negro, convicted o' the murder
of Burt Peasnell, a Birmingham street
car conductor, was executed by hanging
today. A quarrel over paying streetcar
fare was the cause of the murder or
which Dix was hanged. On the morning
of October 16. of last year. Dix with a
party of negroes . was riding to work.
when Bert Peasnell. the conductor of
the car, sought to collect fare. Dix
refused to pay, and Peasnell attempted
to put him off the car. The negro there
upon dnw a knife and fatally wounded
the conductor. Dix was convicted of
murder in the first degree by the
Jefferson criminal court and sentenced
to death. The Uspreme Court approved
the find ng of the lower court and refused
application for rehearing.

after several counts to set v a term of
twelve years in prison for embezzlement
Over a year ago he absconded many
thousand dollars and mysteriously disap
peared, living the Jykel and Hyde life for
over a year. Detective failed to find th
least traca of him and finally a few days
ago th former mayor of Patterson re
turned and gave himself up to th police.

gone to Peterhoff. presumably to tender
his resignation. The general strike form

th negro murder of Leo Woods a young
white man was executed by hanging to
day. Th crime for which Mays was
executed was committed in July last year
Leo Woods was a clerk at the Southern
Pacific rp track where Mays was also
employed. Th testimony disclosed that
the only provocation for the murder was
that Woods twitted him calling him
"Irish." May was convicted and sent
enced to death but the court of appeals
reversed ths judgment on the ground that
the jury law had not been observed.. On
hearing the higher court reversed its self
and affirmed th verdict of the jury.

militia of Indiana went into camp here to
day. The troops will remain in camp un
til August IS. The encampment is part
of the plan for concentrating the state
