July 30 - Milin Laflin who was not by the acc;dantal discharge of ris reaver on July 18. while starch ing for Cacil Britten, is in a critical cond;t;or and not expected to live untill tomorrow. It was thought that Mr. Laflin wou!d. recover from the wound, but he is now suffering from congestion of the lungs and thj physicians fear he will not survive Dr. A. E. Braden was in at-tende-ce th: morning but was called to Walla Walla in the after.ioon. Dr. Robinson arrived tnis evening and is doing all ir. his power to relieve the suffering. Milin Laflin was a memher of the searching party which was hunting for Cecil Bntten on July 18, and left the party to take a trail which he had discovered. He was in a canyon about five miles from Toll Gate when the acc dent which caused his present con dition :ccured. He was stooping over to gat a drink when h;s pistol fell from his pocket, struck a rock and was discharged tie buliet entering his breast. cnmir out at the back. Baker City Heraid. Mr. Edwin London of Seattle is visiting his sister, Mrs. H. S. Cavana. He is on his way home from visiting the principal cities cf the East and Europe. The young people of the Baptist church will give a social Friday evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G. L. Biggers to which everyone is cordially invited. Bids for the refunding of the $30,000 water bond which now draw six per cent intrest will be opened at the council meeting tonight. The Isiand City Epworth League will nold a low revival next Saturday evening at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Kiddle. All are invited to attend. A fire in a small out building back of the Rynearson property on Fourth St. caused the fire department to respond at an early hour this morning. Tne fire was quickly subdued. S. O. Swackhammer came over from Union this morning and will return this evening. Mrs. Swackhammer who has been in Portland for several week has returned somewhat stronger than when she left.
