An ordinance providine for the imorove-
ment of Sixth Street from the intersection
thereof with Washington Avenue, and
the intersection thereof with I Street.
I he City of La Urande Does Ordain As
Follows;
Street Superintendent of the Citv of La
Grande, be, and he, is hereby directed to
notify all owners and occupants of prop
erty abutting on "Sixth Street between
the intersection thereof with Washington
Avenue to the intersection thereof with I
Street, in La Grande. Oregon, that unless
they proceed on or before the 11th dav
of August 1906, to make the necessary
improvement of said Street abuttinff such
property, by placing the same upon estab
lished grade, and properly making all
necessary cuts.fi llsand doing al iecessary
and required graveling of the same, that
the City of La Grande will order said
work done by contract, and the costs and
expenses of making such improvement of
said Street will be made a lien aeainst
abutting property, in accordance with the
provisions of the ordinance of said city
Section 2 This ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after the 20th
day of July 1 906, and published In one
issue of the Evening Observer.

of cattle, horses, and fowls that the ord
inance prohibiting certain animals and
fowls running at large withm the city,
from and after this date, July 1 1th .1906
will be strictly enforced. ' .
No anniral is permitted to be ' on the
streets or alleys without being securely
fastened with a rope or chair, or directly
under the control of a person capable of
handling said animal while, being driven
through the streets.
The owner or party in charge of an
animal is liable to be fined $25 or 10
days imprisonment. The animal may be
impounded and the owner is liable for
all damage sustained by any person.
