Childers left last night with a prisoner

Mr. ana Mrs. Charley Ellsworth and
daughter Miss Burnice have returned
from their visit to Nebraska.
J. W. Earl went to Baker City this
morning where he accept a position with
the Baker City marble works.
J. W. Earles left today for Baker City
where he has accepted a position with the
marble work of that place.
Mr. and Mr. J. W. Dickey leave tomor
row evening for Tacoma where they may
make their future home.

The Ladies Aid society of the Metho
dist Church will -neet at the home of Mrs.
A. E. Jones at one thirty Thursday after
noon.
R. Eldridge clerk at the Foley Hotel
has accepted a position in the Becker
hotel at Walla Walla and will leave for
his new position early next week.
Mrs. W. H. Gibson with Elena, Gordon
and Joseph will return this evening from
Summerville where they have been visit
ing for three weeks.
Mr. and Mr. C. W. Elsworth and fam
ily returned last evening from an extend
ed trip in the East. They have visited
several points in Nebraska.
Mr. W. J. Spencer and family recently
arrived from Minnesota they have de
cided to make this there home. Mr.
Spencer is art experienced lumberman.
Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Kiddle left this
morning for Kansas City, Mo., woere they
will visit friends and relatives for a
month.
1. W. Eaulk and Frank Kirkpatrick
were in Elgin yesterday attending a
meeting of the G. A. R. arranging for the
District Reunion which will be held in that
city July third and fourth.
This County is now engaged in ' har
vesting her most valuable crop, the woo
crop from her 250.000 head of sheep,
the aggregate value of which will be not
less than $500,000. Wallowa Democrat

ionary of the Presbyterian Church passed
through our city this morning from Pine
Valley where he organized a Presbyterian
Church, Sunday with twenty five mem
bers
E J. Conrad the "white face" cattle man
was up from his Summerville farm this
afternoon. He has just returned from a
trip through Burnt River district and re
ports that hefound ready sale there for
his young bulls. Hereford Stock is in
good demand, and Conrad Herefords
are unexcelled in the West.
Dr. Hall is prouder of hi Boston Ter
riers than ever. At a dog show held in
Portland recently, at which a large num
ber of dog fanciers had entries, Dr. Hall
of this city entered his two Boston Ter
ries. Patkin which took second prize and
Jamesie which captured a third. Both
are beautiful animals and the doctor has
reasons to be proud of his pets.

Died at his residenca in this ci'.v at 8
o'clock last evening after a brief illness
of two weeks, from typhoid fever.
Mr. Stull was born in Clarion County
Pa. July 1. 1865. Hs resided in his
native state until his removal to the West
twenty years azo. Hs was united in
marriage Dec. 15. 1833 to Miss Daisy
Myers of Butler Pa. The widowed
companion with an only son Gerald
Clemens, age 6 years, survive and sha e
their sorrow with the aged parents of
the deceased and six brothsrs and three
sisters, also many personal friends in
thi city, deeply sympathize with the
sorrowing ones.
For six yaars Mr. Stull his been in the
employmen: of the 0. R. & N. ComDa nv
and was one of the most trusted freight
conductors. Hs was a noble citizen, good
father, and true and faithful husband
The menory of true a life abides to com
fort and bless the sorrowing.
Funeral will be conducted at the family
residence at 7:30 tonight by Pastor W.
H. Gibson of the Baptist church. The
remains w:ll be a .cimpan ed to Pennsyl
vania by tie w,e and son, leaving this
city at 9'oclock tomorrow morning. The
tenderest sympathy of loving friends will
follow them on their lonely journey,

Last evening Recorder Snook disposed
of the Prescctt voisus Nelson case, by
fining the d.ifondant fwe dollars. The
trouble originated with a quarrel Sunday
which culminated in A. P. Nelson slapping
Mr. Prescott. w.io is h s father-in-law.
The insulted old nentlenan had a war
rant issued fcr his relative's arrest and
promptly yesterday mornirg summons
was served on N.-lson.
INJURED IN RUNAWAY
John Steiger. a well knrwn resident of
Baker City, was seriously injured in a run
away at Norton's crossing yesterday aft
ernoon. Although his injuries are very
painful the attending physician. Dr. Mc
Daniels, does not expect them to prove
fatal.
DELEWARE ELECTS DUPONT

Dover. Del. June 12 Dupont was
elected sonitor by the legislature thi
morning. Dupont received twenty-eight
votes, getting all but one of the votes
cast.
Sheriff Tom Johnson returned from
business trip to Elgin last evening.

Chicago, III.. June. 12. Following the
organization of the Michigan branch of
the American Society if Equity a short
time ago at Owosso, the national assoc'a
called a meeting, which opons here today
at the Great Northern Hotel, for the
purpose of forming a Marketing Associa
tion. The new association is to be com
posed of farmers and its object is to mar
ket all kinds of perishable vegetables and
fruits, as well as butter, eggs, poultry and
all kinds i f diary products. Farmers of
Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and other middle
states are in attendance. It is proposed
to control the supply of all products till
the markets are ready for it and in this
way bring to the producers all the benefits
that are derived by others from storing
vegetables, fruits, eggs and the like at
a lime of plenty and low prices for a
time of scarcity and high prices. It is
distinctly stated that the new organiza
tion is not to be a trust, but is sirrply to
be organized for the purpose of eliminat
ing the individual a a marketor of his
product and market them through the
association, though they may reach the
consumer ultimately through the same
channel a now.
