ed. Rev. Paul Rader'. of the Anti-Salocn
League was to have addressed the meet
ing but did not arrive in the city, conse
quently Reverends Hayes, King, Gibson
and Gibbs took charge of . the meeting.

much worse shape that they were prior
to the adoption of the present law.
Among other things the speaker criticised
the undue manner in which the saloon in
terests have been able to place the word
ing on the ballot, which reads "For
amendment to the local option law, giv
ing anti prohibi'bnists and prohibitionists
equal privileges" wherein as a matter of
fact the full tact of the law practically
wipes out the present law. '

ascus, Asia, will give a beautiful and
descriptive lecture on "The Holy Land"
Tuesday night. May 29th at the Presby
terian church. The evening is rerlete
