W STUDY (Sorippa New Association) : Rome, May S-Tha Vatican has come into possession of the proofs of a new book by the Abbe Houtin, which will cer tainly arouse heated discussion both on account of the author and the subject matter. The book le entitled "The Bibli cal Question in tie 20th Centurr." It will be remembered that Abba Houtin wrote another book, entitled, "The Bibli cal Question in the 1 8th Century," which was widely read by student, but wae on the Index Expurgatorius. The new publication summarize the Biblical discussions in the different ount tnee recalling the famous lecture of Delitxsch, "Babel and Bible" and the famous letter of Emperor William, and gives also full account of Abbs Loisy's theories. An important part of the work concerns the Biblical question In Rome, referring to the Institution of the Biblical Commission and the attitude of Pop Pius X. the Biblical discussion in the English church, stating that in no other Christian Church has the Bible been so muoh stui- led as among English speaking Protes tant. Abbe Houtin highly praise th scientific worke of the English Protss tant. saying they are of the "greatest utility. constituting long, fatiguing and expensive studies, courageously under taken and loyally and rapidly carried out, even on subjects which in thsir nature seem reserved to th students of the Roman Catholic Church. He cite a an example th Biblical dictionaries by Hastings and Cheynne, wnicn, ne says, "represent a, glory not only for the Established Church in England, hut also for the Scottish Church and for the English Presbyterian Churches, which contributed to them." The general opinion in Vatican circles is, however, that the new book of Abbe Houtin will also be placed on the Index of forbidden book. FOR SALE-Desirable residence in good ( location.
