A GOOD STORY .
A good story is told of a La Grande
teamster who one; Sunday morning not

When he crawled out the horse was
taking advantage of the time offered and
was rapidly feeding upon the grass which
grew near the sewer. Those who wit
nessed the "high dive" are authority for
the statement that the horse seemed te
haye had the more enjoyable time of the
two. .

given to a program which was rendered
interestingly.' Mrs. Clara T. Lyle ren
dered the Hallelujah Chorous on the organ
in her able and. masterly way and
was thoroughly appreciated.
Miss Jean McDonald and Mrs. A. L.
Richardson wtre received with applause
and welcome after, study in Portland.
, Miss McDonald . tang "Pierrot" by
Hutchinson and responded with an encore
Grace Mayhew't "Slumber Song." This
was the first time Miss McDonald has
been heard in her home town and all were
enthusiastic over her tinging and delight
fully entertained.
Mre Richardson tang Scotch ballad,
"My Ain Folks", in her most gracious
and plsasing style and then gave, "A
Song of Sleep", by Lord Henry Somerset
in tweet and melodious tones.
The program closed with the "panto
mine "An Old Sweetheart of Mine," by
Mrs. W. L. Brenholts. Too much can
not be said .in paise of the reading and
tableau which carried out the little poem
so beautifully. - Each and every tableau
was artistically posed and were received
with admiration. Metdames Kirk and
Oliver ssrved frappe and wafers during
which a social time was enjoyed.
On account of the graduation evercises
on Friday evening, Mesdamee Molitor
and Newlin and Miss Anson will not en
tertain the evening Kaffee K latch this
week as previously announced.
