Flinders Petrie, the well known Egyptolo
gist, containing some highly interesting
detail of hi recent discoveries near
Cairo, Egypt According to the state
ment of Professor Patric he has dis
covered the remains of the Temple of
Onaie at .Tel-El-Yahu-diah, eighteen
miles north of Cairo, and he has brought
to light evidence of the presence of the
Hyksos, or shepherd kings. In the Delta,
thereby solving an Interesting puzzle on
this point Prof. Petrie alto ta'.s that
he has, In all probability, identified the
treasure city of Ramese built by the
Israelites in bondage thousands of year
before the time of Christ ' The construct
ion of the city is referred to In the first
chapter of the book of Exodus.
The mounds or lei-t-hianu-aish were
visited and described in 1866 by Unant
the French engineer and expleyer. Sub
sequently G rev ill Chester, Hayter Lewis

excavated the site. In 1887, for the
Egypt Exploration Fund, Profesor Nav
ille made determined effort to disclose
