A motor car. a transportation medium
that is still in the experiment stage, was
trailed into La Grande this morning from
Huntington. The autocar was built at
vmana tor uie Portland inter-urban ser
vice and is being taken there by T. M.
Bierd, an expert in motor mr.hin. Th
trip wa very successful up to Hunting
ton where the six cylinder engine was
broken and the cars had to be trailed in
to La Grande. Coming over ' the ' plain
the motive power carried the large car
and a trailer at the rate of fifty mile an
hour. The trailer is a mail and express
car combination while the car containing
the engine is built on the passenger coach
pian ana win accomodate fifty people.
Motive power is a gasoline motor and
rests on the front truck and I built for
speed as well as for heavy work. The

exception of the accident to th engine,
everything is pointing to the fact that th

Be it resolved, that there shall be con
structed a sidewalk on the East side of
Fourth St. from the south side of I St
to the North side of C St. in the City of
La Grande. Oregon, where no sidewalk at
the presant Urns eiists. and such side
walks at are already constructed on the
said East side of Fourth St shall ha
placed in good repair, between the south
side of J. St. to the north side of C. St
That such sidewalks shall be constructed
in accordance with the ordinance Govern
ing the construction of sidewalks in the
tity or La Grande. Oregon, and the same
shall be seven feet in width, and shall
be done at the expense of the abutting
property owners. That the said side
walks shall be constructed or repaired by
the 20th day of April 1906.
