Charles A. Johns of Baker City, is in Eugene for the purpose of bringing his candidacy before the Republicans of this section. He has met a cordial reception and feels . rather encouraged with the outlook in Eugene. It seems, being that Mr. Johns is the only candidate from Eastern Oregon, that he wilt prove a strong element in the race for the nomi nation. Wise ones claim ha can obtain practically all of the vote east of the mountains, which would be a big a big showing against the promised division in Western Oregon. It is expected at this time that all depends on Multnomah so far as the governorship is concerned because that county has no candidate The man who can command most sup port in Mullnoman is considered a win ner. Thus it is probable the close of the campaign will see the narrow down to a fierce canast in that county. Mr. John's friends are of the opinion that he will come to that county with the largest vote and that he can obtain nothing short of hi share of votes for the governship.
