THE TEST
The Canadian Pacific is shortly'to be
subjected to a big transportation test bv
the British government having in view
its new alliance with Japan, in which
each nation pledges itself to suDDort the
other. The government determined to
discover just in what time it could sand a
considerable body of men from England
to the Queen Charlotte Islands, which lie
north of Vancouver.
The scheme is to call upon the Canadian
Pacific to transport 1 0.O0Q marines and
sailors with boats and all equipment from
England to Vancouver and thence' bv
eoasting vessels to Queen Charlotte Isl
ands. This will involve the chartering of
extra vessels and the running of twenty
trains, each loaded wich five hundred
men and camp equipage, across the Con
tent Th. vparlmi.nl'. will take nlace
in about two months.

CLEANLINESS
As milk is the natural looa lor ui
young, containing within itself all
the reguirements of the, body, and
as any adulteration is injurious to
the system, (either from absorp
tion or otherwise) therefore the
health of the consumer, and espec
lallyj the" young, depend; to a
great extent upon those who handle
the milk. And as there are so
many ways in handling the cow as
wall as the milk after being drawn
from the cow. Every consumer
should visit the place from whence
he gets his milk (no matter if it is
surrounded by a high board fence)
and see how the cow and the milk
are handled before using it as a
food for the baby. 1
