They aap the vitality and undermine the constitution by draining the system of iU very life fluids, and those afflicted with one of these ulcer grow despondent and almost desperate as one treatment after another fails. They patiently apply salves, washes, plasters, etc., but iu apite of all these the sore refuses to heal and eats deeper into the surround ing flesh, destroying the tissues and growing to be a festering, inflamed and tngrr mass. The source of the trouble is in the blood. This vital fluid is filled with impurities and poisons which are constantly being discharged Into the sore or ulcer, making it impossible for the place to heal. It will not do to depend on external applications for a cure, because they do not reach the real cause, and valuable time is lost experimenting with snch treatment; the most they can do is keep the ulcer clean. Any sore that will not heal is dangerous, for the reason that it may have the deadly germs of Cancer behind it. A cure can be brought about only through a remedy that can change the quality of the blood, and this is what S. 8. S. does. It goes to the very bottom of the trouble, drives out the poisons and germs with which it is filled, and purifies and builds up the entire cir culation. By the use of S. S. S. the sore is supplied with new, rich blood which corrects the trouble, soon stops the discharge, and allows the place to heal naturally and permanently. S. S. S. also reinvigorates the entire system, and where the constitution has been depleted or broken down it quickly builds it up and restores perfect health. THf WORLD'S HAVHS The people of the United States are just now thinking about how a European war may effect their trade with people over the seas. When people get to war they are prone to do many naughty things This is especially true when an armed ship of one nation finds an unarmed one on the high seas loaded with things des tined for the enemies country. As the Jnited Stales has about, a billion and a half dollars worth of stuffs on the ocean annually in u.iarned ships, it becomes interesting to know hew many war ships the nations of the world now have. A dispatch from London gives the following list of the war ships belonging co the several nations that prowl on the ceans over wljich our foreign trade has 0 pass and repass. The new shipbuilding program of France comprises 16 battle ships, three large armored cruisers and 16 smaller armored cruisers, and of these three battleships are to be laid down in 1906. Some of the political bosses are al ready in favor of abolishing the primary nominating election law. The common people are thinking otherwise and if we are any judge the primary law is hare to stayv As a result of one doctor's careful sys tem of advertising, eight out of town patients have been induced to move to LaCrande for the .winter. These eight patients aside from taking treatment are contributing their share to the circulating medium of tha town. It pays the doctor t te newspaper and the town to advertise Everything points to a most prosperous y.-ar. Thore le every evidence that this will be a record breaking building year so far as the town of La Grande is concern ed, the chances are better than ever that a railroad will connect La Qrande with Cove by the time the next crop is ready to move. Many hot air lines have been constructed through and across this valley in years past, only to be killed by the wintory blast, but the above men tioned road will be down on the ground where cars and passengers can travel. rVatch and see. - j h21 HRSllM:3nJe i. buiu.a untnt all tut r AiLS k J Dst Coutk Sym-v Tut- Cant LU Uw In tiim. It is . conceded that Portland will determine the choice, but what man. if this be tha. verdict, from Portland shall receive the honor? If a call should be sent up from the people doubtless several good men would harken to the name borne in on the wind. Jona than Bourne. Jr.,' is not waiting for a call; T. B. Wilcox, it is said, doesn't expect any popular demand for his services; Judge L. R. Webster seems to be doubt ing. A voice is heard occasionly for W. D. Fenton, It is growing stronger lately and may become loud and clear. Fenton is factionally free, and able to perform the duties of the office with credit to the state. Whether proper conditions for his candidacy will yet arise remains to be seen, but an initiative step by the people might induce him to enter the race. Pendleton Tribune. :.
