PRECINCTS Up to last evening there was a total registration within the five La Grande precinct of 156 of which 91 registered a Republican, 43 a Democrats, SO a Socialist and 2 a Prohibitioniat. Only on registered as Non-partisian. The five precincts this year cover practically the same territory as the four precincts formerly covered, Many of the voter do not appreciate the fact that they cannot participate in the primarie unlesn they register, and unless they take advantage of the power placed In their hands through the new primary law they may loss it and should. This is the first oppor tunity the voters have ever had to parti cipate in the nomination of their officers and they should take an interest in pro portion to their increased responsibilities and duties. Have you registered? If you do not register you cannot vote in the primaries. "A New Oregon" parts of the state. is the slogan in all In many-cities the ladies have organiz ed for civic improvement with splendid isults. Why not in La Grande? Now Is the tim i to prep: re for an active campaign in the pring. W need more people and a we have plenty of room it i our fault it we do not secure these. A few of the political bosses quietly ell us that the primary law will prove failure, and hope that it may, and that the people a. large will care little if the law is respected. If the voters will regis ter and take the interest they should in the selection of their party ticket there will be no danger of its repeal.
