W. H. Gib son' home last night ' Mr. D. M. Clark, of Cove, who ha been in the city visiting her sister Mrs. A U Richardson returned home this morn ing. Mr. A. L. Richardson left this morning for Portland, where she wilP remain for the next three month to receive vocal and instrumental instruction under one of Portland's leading musical instructors. Miss Anna Hoak, who is in ths city visiting her parent Mr. and Mrs. John Hoak entertained a number of her friends last evening. The evening wa gecupied with game, music and conversation. Miss Hoak expects to return to Portland in a few day. To much credit cannot be given Hon. C. D. Huffman the secretary of ' th Fruitgrower association, for it wa very largely due to his untiring effort that th meeting was th unquilifled success that it was. A WORD TO FARMER BOYS The experience a young man gains on th farm is a most valuable asset He should, therefore, reflect well before deciding to throw it away by entering some other profession in which this ex perience i of no special value. This i particularly true when we consider the extent to which most of the other pro fessions are crowded and the unusual op portunities now offered in agriculture. Every ambitious farmer' boy should plan to supplement this experience by a train ing in the College of Agriculture, ss as to be prepared for the greatest possible success. Ten year ago it wa freely predicted that the demand for trained men in agriculture would toon be over supplied. The supply today I many time greater, and the demand is farther from being supplied than ever and is growing more rapidly than the number of young men fitting themselves to take such positions is increasing. From advices received from Portland it appears that Mr. Young i officiating as the political manager of Jonathan Bourn, a candidate for the omce or United States senator for Oregon. Dunns the silver campaign Messrs. Bourne and Youns were in the harness together and did effective work. Now that Mr. Bourne has high political as pirations it was but natural that he should select his able lieutenant Mr. Young to assist him on the road to vict ory.
