HEARST ANfiOUNCfS PLANS
Los Angeles, Dec. 29. William R.
Hearst in an interview printed today
said:
"I shall not run for congress again. I
regard office holding like jury duty. Also
a man can accomplish more, with his
newspapers than in office. Furthermore,
to be a member of the'minority does not
give one much chance, for results.
"I insist that I polled a plurality of the
votes for mayor in New York and had
most of the population With me. I began
a fight that will be carried on until its ob
ject is accompliseed and politics are puri
fied. I still hope to have the votes prop
erly counted."
IRRIGATION IN INDIA

official approval by the Indian government
involving an expenditure of twenty millions
of dollars, to cover three thousand square

mated at seven thousand cubic feet per
second.
