Starting Monday night, December 4th with a matinee Saturday. Dec 9th, the great McEwen Company will open a week's engagement at Steward's Opera House under the management of Mr. H. L. Leavitt The attraction this year has been greatly revised. Many new feat ures, some of which have never been ex hibited in America before, have made the attraction one of the strongest 'on the road this season. The Great McEwen is assisted by Miss Florence McEwen. Queen of Illusionists.' Her illusion entitled "Princess Monamada" has caused many people to puzzle themselves, as to how it is accomplished. In this great act a woman is caused to float through the air without any apparent means of support. This illusion is one that has been imported from the Hindoo of India. Mindreading magic and hypnotism con stitute the Great McEwen's part of the program. His mindreading is of the highest order and must be seen to be ap preciated. Hypnotism remains an at tractive feature. There is no comedy on the stage today that can produce in two hours as much real laughter and enjoy ment as 1 5 minutes of hypnotic demon stration. The place is full of industry, and the manner of handling business would startle the average' easy going man out of his senses. Lewis Brothers, the proprietors, are manufact uring a special brand of steam rolled barley which is as fine as any ever offered in this valley. Their wood business has also taken on proportions which will place them in the lead of all dealers in the In land Empire. They nov have fourteen car loads on the way to their yards, and many times as much now on hand. While the Observer man was endeavoring to keep out of the way, the switch engine puffed up on their special side track with three car loads of coal, and a telephone message from the freight office announced that another car had just arrived. Their large warehouse is full of baled hay, and Mr. Lewis informed us that he had -sev eral hundred tons awaiting shipment at North Powder.
