STUB BLEFI ELD Business Transacted on The Portage Road Salem, Nov. 11. The governor, sec retary of state and statu treasurer, as the board of control of the portage rail way at Celilo, held a session at Salem Wednesday to hear the monthly report of Superintendent L. S. Cook, who was pre sent, and to attend to business connected therewith. From the report it appears that. during the month of October there were 7.363 sacks of wheat transported over the road and $7.75 in passenger fares collected. The earning capacity of the road at pre sent is about 50 per cont of the expense of maintenance, and the prospects are, Mr. Cook says, that there willl be such an increase of business in the near future as will bring the receipts well up to ex penses. A large amount of materials will be needed for jetty work at the mouth of the Columbia and also for the extensive improvements projected on the north bank of the river all the way down from Celilo, and the greater part of it will necessarily be handled over the por tage road. Superintendent Cook says the road will be of greater advantage and heavy money-saver to the shippers and growers of Eastern Oregon, as it is the means of a substantial reduction in freight charges. 4 iii i II nil i iw ii iii ii ! i TwiwBrTnwrm t rrfirmf IWW T W TfW 'gW W. rT WW F WW W WW WW W W-9 T wr v" w v - - r. These in turn depend upon nerve and blood supply for their activity. The nerve and blood supply of the stomach in dyspepsia are interfered with by displacement of the bones of the spine and ribs, and by the contracture of muscles. These are the first and primary pauses o dyspepsia. Dietetic errors are causes of dyspepsia, but are secondary the others. The cure dyspepsia involves the correction of these displacements. Correction of diet aids the stomach in recovering after the dis placements are removed, Osteopathic cures are real cures and permanent, be cause the primary causes of the trouble are removed. ' The administration of pepsin, hydroch loric acid, silver nitrate, strychnine and other drugs is not curative, but merely palliative, and soon aggravates the de fective conditions already existing. Drue giving is therefore uncertain, . unscientific and injurious. . ... These are the two views of dyspepsia Think over them and take your choice.
