Smashup In the Yards
A alight wreck occurred in the rail
road yarda last night on one of the side
tracks, a short diatahoe weat of the
depot, the reanlt being that a box car
waa broken almost in the middle and
one end amaahed Into kindling wood.
It appears that several cars ot eoal
were aUtloned on one of tbe side
tracks, and the TZZ iutn
to make a flying' switch with several
cars ot ties and poets, on tbe end of
which, next to the heavv utationarv
coal oars, waa an old diecrepit box oar
filled with household goods. ' The ears
were coming too fast to stop, and the
car of household goods was jammed
between the heavy loaded oars of ties
and the eoal oars. The box car was
damaged beyond repair, beimr torn
from tbe trucks and thrown on one
side, only one end remaining on tbe
trucks, which never left the track. It
la stated that one ot . tbe night yard
men waa npon tbe top ot tbe box car
at toe lime the accident occurred and
barley escaped injury.
