the ohannel of Burnt river, about five
miles below Durkee. , This will be
done in order to secure a safer rpad
bed and to prevent tbe washing a trey
ot the bridges, of which there are sev
eral between Durkee and Huntington.
The work will be done about a mile
from tbe mouth ot the narrow canyon
through which the roJ winds, cross
ing and recroseing the river . It will
be remembered that It was In this
