out a statement on last Saturday
showing that since the investi
gations of the alleged land frauds
'in Oregon by that Department
that sixty eight indictments have
been found by the United States
Grand Jury, six convictions
have been rendered by - trial

the indictments, fifty two are for
conspiracy to defraud the gov

others for the various crimes of

sented to Oregon is full, for the
list includes one United States
Senator from Oregon and both
our members of the House of
Representatives, eight attorueya
who have held prominent posi
tions, one state and two ex-staie
Senators, an ex-United States
Assistant Attorney and bis de
puty, an ex-Suryeyor General
and deputy, several deputy sur
veyors, examiners of surveys,
one United States Commissioner
of the United States General
Land Office, two ex-Commiss
ioners of the United States Dis
trict Court for Oregon and a
number of land and timber deal
ers and homesteaders.
