Oregon Osteopatbio Aisooiatioa is
holding its third annual session today
at the Hotel Imperial and will adopt
.a strong reeolatioa urging the coming
session of the Legislature to fix a
method of state regulation whereby the
profession will be legalised and recog
nized as Is 'other proleasions by the
state. The physicians of tba Osteo
' pathio bulief want this to guard the
ublio against pseudo prwtitioners
claiming to be Osteopaths, and to ele
vate the science. They claim that at
present anyone can hang out a siga as
an Osteopstnio physician and claim a
degree which it in reality requires
three years of bard study to obtain. ,

morning in the parlors of the Imperial
with about 40 Osteopatbio physloians

At the regular session- of the Oregon
Legislature two years sgo aa effort was
mads to pass a measure with the object
of legalizing and recognizing osteopa
thy, but it failed to oarry. Tbe effert
resulted in a lively battle between the
osteopaths and the members . of the
Oregon Medical Society, the latter tak
ing the stand that . before osteopaths
weie fitted to operate for the core of
disease they should be able to pass
the same examinations provided lor
other physicians. Tbe osteopaths were
not willing to accept 'regular doctors"
as members of tbe proposed osteopath
io board, and the "regular doctors"
would not consent to tbe passage , o
measure without "regular' members,
so tbe bill dlsd.
Several attempts were made to res
urrect it during the session, but each
tailed, though the measure occupied
considerable time in committee.
